Brief introduction: Whenever it comes to the Italian Renaissance, people always use familiar statements, such as “human discovery,” “discovery of nature and beauty,” and “liberate man and human nature from the bondage of religion.” Such words can be said to be highly generalized of the essence of the Italian Renaissance movement. However, precisely because of its “highly generalized” nature, it also often loses its appeal to the general public because of its abstract theory. In view of this, the lecture specially selected a famous work of art, namely Lorenzo Ghiberti’s bronze door (Gates of Paradise), as the breakthrough point. The lecture hopes to reproduce the Italian Renaissance of Florence’s exquisite art and its spiritual connotation by explaining the details of the art of the Gates of Paradise. In terms of the content of the lecture, the lecturers will include the carving history of the “Gates of Paradise,” the historical connotation of the carving works, the processing and creation of the artists, and the historical experience of the Gates of Paradise in Florence.
